Body Pains that Should Never be Neglected

Various kinds of pains that you experience are often your body’s way of telling you that it needs a little more attention. Your body undergoes tremendous amounts of pressure and stress while you perform your daily activities. This can cause mild or severe pain in various parts of the body. Many people don’t give proper attention to certain pains and believe that they are just a result of stress or over-exertion. Although certain types of body pains are causal and disappear by themselves, many of them occur due to an underlying cause that needs medical attention. Failing to get timely and appropriate treatment for such pains can have serious health consequences. Explained below are body pains that you should never ignore.

Headache

Headache is the most common type of body pain that everyone experiences once in a while. Some people opt for over-the counter painkillers, while others use home remedies to get relief. Although occasional headache is normal, if it becomes too frequent or intense, you will need to find its root cause. Headache could be triggered due to migraine or sinusitis. However, headaches caused by these factors are always accompanied with other symptoms. If you don’t experience any other symptoms, then the pain could be caused due to brain aneurysm, which demands immediate medical help.

Pain in the Chest, Arm, Shoulder, Jaw, or Throat

Every one of us knows about the intense chest pain that precedes a heart attack. What most people are not aware of is that sudden pain in the arm, shoulder, jaw, or throat may also be an indication of a possible heart attack. It is highly recommended to seek immediate medical attention on experiencing any of these pains. Pulmonary embolism is another major cause of sudden chest pain. This health condition causes blockage of one or more arteries in the lungs due to the formation of blood clots in the area of the body that travels to the lungs. The most common symptoms of this health issue are chest pain and shortness of breath. Although pulmonary embolism is an extremely serious condition, identifying and treating it early enough can lower the risk of death.

Abdominal Pain

A sudden pain in the abdomen could either be serious or be nothing at all. It could be an indication of an intestinal blockage. Not giving timely attention to this condition might cause death of the intestinal tissue. Abdominal pain might also be a signal of a swollen liver caused due to hepatitis. Upper-right abdominal pain can be a warning sign of some kind of gall bladder problem. Pain in the upper abdomen might also be an indication of pancreatitis. Problems associated with lungs and kidneys may also cause severe abdominal pain.

Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is another very common type of pain. In most cases, lower back pain is non-specific i.e. it is not a result of any underlying disease. It could just be a muscle or ligament sprain caused while performing a strenuous task. However, if you experience lower back pain on a frequent basis, then you should contact your doctor. This is because sciatica, which is a nerve root pain, is one of the severe causes of lower back pain. Pain between the shoulder blades or in the lower back could be caused by arthritis.
